No Floppy? – Make the "A" drive disappear

If your computer is less than three years old it probably does not have a floppy drive. However, Windows Explorer still shows an A drive.

Here is how to make the A drive disappear from Windows Explorer:

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click Run...

3. Type devmgmt.msc and click the OK button.

4. Navigate to the Floppy disk drives branch in the Device Manager window.

5. Click on the plus (+) sign to the left of Floppy disk drives to expand the branch.

6. Right click on the Floppy disk drive and a context menu appears.

7. Click on Disable. When you are asked "Do you really want to disable it?" click the Yes button.

8. Close the Device Manager window.

The A drive is gone.
