Mozilla's Prism

Have you ever wanted to split your web-based email, like Gmail or your Yahoo calendar, out of your browser and run it as a separate application? Mozilla Labs' free Prism application is designed to do just that. Prism is a Windows only application for now. Download it from http://people.mozilla.com/~mfinkle/prism/prism-0.8-win32.exe.

There is a similar free application for Mac users called Fluid. Download it at http://fluidapp.com/dist/Fluid_0.9.2.5.zip.

Both applications are easy to set up. Instructions are available on their respective web sites. After you set up your application(s) you can run Gmail, Yahoo calendar, or whatever web-based application you want, by clicking on a desktop icon. A simple window that only shows that application will launch
