Mac OS X Lion, v10.7, to upgrade or not to upgrade
Simple answer is you can wait. It is possible that you may never need to upgrade.
Apple released Lion as a $29.99 Mac App Store update, earlier this week. The only other way to get it is to buy a new Mac.
My experience
I bought and downloaded the almost 4GB file on Wednesday, [...]
Improve Mac OS X Finder, put full path in title bar
I don’t remember where I first learned this simple hack. It is one of the more useful changes to Finder you can make. I use it on all my Macs. I also put this on my clients’ Macs.
You can display the full path in the Finder title bar rather than have only the folder [...]
Legal file names
A friend recently asked,
Since when is it possible to use $ and ! characters in file names?
I just noticed an exclamation point in the name of a file I had ripped from a CD a few weeks age. I don’t recall seeing it there before…
I hadn’t thought about this topic for many [...]

Xmenu places links to key Finder folders on the Apple Menu bar. Once installed and started, you won’t need to [...]
This only affects Macs. It is not a Windows problem
Recently, this message started popping up on my Macs. It happens most frequently with iTunes. I also see it with some other applications. Even though I click the Allow button it pops up the next time I launch iTunes.
I assume that [...]

What makes a document open in Microsoft Word and a song open in iTunes? Why do files designed to run on Windows PCs like Word documents or Excel spreadsheets [...]
Customize the OS X Finder Toolbar
I recently tweeted (@RichardFrisch)
Miracles do happen. My wife who lives in an assisted computing facility taught me something about Finder’s Column View I did not know.
If you own a Mac you use Finder, OS X’s file management application, which is similar to Windows Explorer. Have you ever [...]
