Microsoft Security Essentials available for download
MSE is the best security software I have ever used. I like it far better than any free or commercial home security software.
I recommend that every Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 home user convert to it.
I was a member of the Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) beta program, which was a limited participant program. The beta ended last week. In the near future Microsoft will make MSE freely available for download for non-commercial home users at microsoft.com/security_essentials/.
It is easy to install, easy to use and has an unnoticeable footprint on every machine I tested. Oh yeah it also does a great job of stopping malicious software.
I recommend that every Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 home user convert to it when it is publicly released in the near future. I expect Microsoft to time its public release to coincide with the October 22, 2007 public Windows 7 launch.
If you want to learn more read Paul Thurrott’s Microsoft Security Essentials Review.
It will be available for download starting later today, September 29, 2009 at microsoft.com/security_essentials/ There are three versions, XP 32-bit, Vista/Windows 7 32-bit and Vista/Windows 7 64-bit.
