Considering Windows 7 upgrades
Microsoft announced that October 22, 2009 is the scheduled public release date for Windows 7, its new operating system that succeeds Windows Vista and Windows XP.
Starting today, June 26, 2009, Microsoft will offer, for a limited time, discounted pre-order upgrades to Windows 7 Home Premium ($49.99) and Windows 7 Professional. ($99.99). According to Microsoft, “The offer begins on June 26, 2009 and will continue while supplies last, or until July 11, 2009, whichever comes first.” These discounted prices compare favorably to the MSRP of $119.99 and $199.99 that will prevail when this offer expires.
If you want to find out if your computer will run Windows 7 check out the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. You can find online retailers at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/offers/pre-order.aspx.
I have been testing Windows 7 for several months and think it is the best version of Windows…ever. I recommend you consider upgrading your computer and take advantage of this pre-order discount.
